Why You Can’t Get Past the Rocks North of Mauville City in Pokemon Emerald
Visit the house below the bike shop in Mauville City and speak to the person inside.
Situation
After reaching Mauville City, you try heading north toward Route 111, but your path is blocked by two rocks.
They look like something you should be able to clear, but nothing you do works. You cannot move them, interact with them, or find a way around.
You might try challenging the Gym, thinking that is the next step, or explore nearby routes to find another path forward. But no matter what you do, you keep coming back to the same blocked path.
The Place You’re Looking For
If you keep looping around Mauville and cannot get past the rocks, you are likely missing something required to clear them.
Those rocks require HM06 Rock Smash.
This Hidden Machine is given by a person inside a house located just below the bike shop in Mauville City.
You need the Mauville Gym Badge before Rock Smash can be used outside of battle.
